Computer Science and Information Technology (M.Sc. & Ph.D.)
Admission
For early decision processing, submit all application materials before the deadline being announced by the Graduate Admissions Office. After completing all admission tests, you will be notified within 1 month of your admission status. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered. If you are admitted to CU, you will receive a Certificate of Admissions and information packet about orientation and registration. Please be advised to proceed according to all the important dates specified in the information packet.
The academic year is divided into two semesters, namely, Fall and Spring. Fall semester starts from August to early December, while Spring semester runs from January to early May. Students must register at least 9 credit hours but not to exceed 15 credit hours per semester. Application can be filed according to the following procedures.
- Complete Section A of the Application Form for Graduate Admissions.
- Have each recommender filled out Section B and mail it along with the application form. Your application will not be considered unless all three copies of recommendation are received by the Department Office.
- Pay the 1,000 Baht application fee (see Fees and Other Charges Section)
- Have your TOEFL/IELTS or Chulalongkorn University (CU) Language Institute (CU-TEP) test score sent directly to Graduate Studies in Computer Science and Information Technology, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. You may arrange to take the test through your local TOEFL/IELTS test centers or CU Language Institute, respectively.
- Submit an official transcript from your school(s) to the Graduate Studies in Computer Science and Information Technology, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Note: International applicants who are to apply for any university scholarships need to apply into the program and pass the exam and the interview to be considered for the scholarship, and please read the condition of each scholarship carefully.
Qualification
Scope of examinations
- Holding a Bachelor’s degree with GPA of at least 2.5.
- Having English proficiency test, except native speakers, of TOEFL, IELTS, CU-TEP, according to the criteria given by the Graduate school.
- Having appropriate qualifications in accordance with the Graduate school stipulations imposed for a given academic year, or being admitted by the administration committee of the M.Sc. program in computer science and information technology.
- Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering with GPA of at least 3.25 or a Master’s degree in Science and Engineering with GPA of at least 3.25.
- Having English proficiency test, except native speakers, of TOEFL, IELTS, CU-TEP, according to the criteria given by the Graduate school.
- Having appropriate qualifications in accordance with the Graduate school stipulations imposed for a given academic year, or being admitted by the administration committee of the Ph.D. program in Computer Science and Information Technology.
Fee
Two examinations must be completed for all applicants.
1. Preliminary written examination encompassing the following subjects.
- Programming Techniques
- Data Structure
2. Oral examination
Every applicant must go through an oral examination which will take place approximately one week after the applicant has passed the written examinations. The examination will be sanctioned by the Program Committee in the form of an official interview.
Two examinations must be completed for all applicants.
1. Preliminary written examination encompassing the following subjects:
- Discrete mathematics
- Computer Systems Organization
- Design and Analysis of Algorithms
- Automata Theory
2. Oral examination
Every applicant must go through an oral examination which will take place approximately one week after the applicant has passed the written examinations. The examination will be sanctioned by the Program Committee in the form of an official interview.
Within one year after admission, every student must have an advisor in order to proceed with his/her proposal. While a student still cannot settle on an advisor, the Program Secretary will serve as his/her interim advisor.
The following fees apply to both credit and noncredit (audit) registrations and are subject to change
There is a 1000 Baht non-refundable application fee payable in two ways, cash (in person) or cheque/bank draft pay to the order of Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University and mail it to Graduate Studies in Computer Science, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, Phyathai Road, Bangkok 10330, Thailand

Thai resident (637 xxxxx 23) up
2.1 For M.Sc. Program, there is a semester fee of 58,500 Baht payable to two separate accounts, namely, 33,500 Baht to the Office of the Registrar, and 25,000 Baht to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Students who do not pass a preliminary written examination on computer related subjects must register for deficiency courses which are subject to change by the Program Committee.
2.2 For Ph.D. Program, there is a semester fee of 78,500 Baht payable to two separate accounts, namely, 33,500 Baht to the Office of the Registrar, and 45,000 Baht to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Non-Thai resident
2.3 For M.Sc. Program, there is a semester fee of 118,500 Baht payable to two separate accounts, namely, 33,500 Baht to the Office of the Registrar, and 85,000 Baht to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
2.4 For Ph.D. Program, there is a semester fee of 138,500 Baht payable to two separate accounts, namely, 33,500 Baht to the Office of the Registrar, and 105,000 Baht to the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
