Ph.D. in Computer Science (English Program)

 The PhD in Computer Science Program offers an execllence opportunityfor students who wish to pursue advanced studies in Computer Science, which operates under the AVIC Center. The Center has conducted a wide range of research activities in close cooperation with local and international agencies. It is ideal for international students who are interested in oversea studies and cross cultural learning.

Qualifications

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering with GPA at least 3.25, or
  • a Masters’ degree in Science or Engineering having GPA no less than 3.25, and
  • Other qualifications promulgated every year by the Graduate School or approved by Faculty of Science Committees.

Degree Requirements

  • Applicants holding a Bachelor’s degree are required to take at least 24 credit hours of course work and 48 credit hours of dissertation. The students must graduate within 8 years counting from the first year of their admission.
  • Applicants holding a Masters’ degree are required to take 48 credit hours of dissertation. The students must graduate within 5 years counting from the first year of their admission.
  • In addition, the students in both background classifications must also meet the general requirements of the graduate school. Among the important ones are the Ph.D. qualifying examination, the dissertation prospectus defense, and at least two international journal papers accepted for publication.

Qualifications of applicants

  1. Holding the 2nd class honor in Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering, or attending the final semester as a senior standing with GPA  3.25, or having acceptable thesis, or
  2. Holding a Masters’ in Science or Engineering degree with GPA 3.25, or having acceptable thesis.
  3. Candidates must have an appropriate level in an approved test of English. A TOEFL score of 526 or IELTS score of 5.5 or higher is required. For those who do not have a TOEFL or IELTS score, CU Test of English Proficiency (CU-TEP) and
  4. Having appropriate qualifications in accordance with the Graduate School stipulation imposed on a given academic year, or admitted by the administration committee of the Ph.D. program in Computer Science (English Program)
