Abstract: Nowadays, transportation and logistics systems are constantly in search for the best ways to optimize processing time, deliver high quality and profitable services. The productivity of logistics heavily relies on the efficiency of equipment and the efficient management of transport vehicles. Most of the operational problems, that use such resources in a logistics, are interconnected. In this talk, Dr Iris will detail two of these integrated problems from container port operations and urban logistics and present exact and heuristic methods to solve them. The methods presented cover a vast spectrum of operation research literature.
